I started hand sewing when I was in second grade. But when, in sixth grade my aunt taught me how to use a sewing machine and I found out how many things I could make with fabric, I was unstoppable! My parents gave me my own sewing machine as a high school graduation gift and I made a few quilts and a lot of Halloween costumes throughout the years. But it was when I became an empty-nester that the great love of
quilting came to me.
It was 1999. I got a new machine and I was off. Since then, I’ve expanded to two longarm quilting machines, have spoken to guilds, taught longarm quilting classes, been the Featured Quilter for my guild’s quilt show, and am now a Certified Quilt Judge. Quilting is the same, but always changing: there is always a new fabric, pattern, class or idea, and beautiful quilts made by talented artisans. And that is what keeps me interested.
